Table lamp ‘Tulip’ designed in the 1970’s by the Swedish architect Yngve Ekström. Made from white acrylic with clear details.
Swedish architect Yngve Ekström is primarily recognized for his high-quality wooden furniture, particularly the iconic bentwood ‘Lamino’ chair introduced in 1956. However, there are exceptions in his impressive repertoire. The acrylic table lamp ‘Tulip,’ launched in the early 1970s, is one of these. Despite his general aversion to plastic in furniture, he couldn’t resist using acrylic for this charming lamp.

Yngve Ekström (June 16, 1913 – March 13, 1988) was a Swedish furniture designer, wood carver, sculptor and architect and an important figure in the evolution of the Scandinavian Modernism movement. Yngve Ekström is best known for the "Lamino" armchair, an ergonomic and minimalist easy chair that he designed in 1956 and which has been in continuous production ever since.[1] In 1999, the "Lamino" was named by the influential Swedish magazine Sköna hem as the Swedish furniture design of the twentieth century.
