«Necromantia is a Latin word which derives from Greek, and means "Divination of the Dead".
In November 2019, the band announced that they would disband after the release of their final EP dedicated to Baron Blood in 2020. The release was later delayed to 2021 and expanded into a full-length.
In December 2021, The Magus announced that the band had "now descended into the Abyss."
