About the Role
We are looking to strengthen our software engineering team with an Associate software engineer who has a genuine interest in drilling operations, machine control systems, and automation technology.
You will contribute to the development and delivery of our barrier system portfolio, helping ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations on drilling rigs worldwide. You will work closely with experienced engineers and domain experts, gaining hands-on experience in a highly specialized and impactful field.
About the Company
The Zone Management Technology department in NOV is responsible for developing and deploying our barrier systems. The three products in the department’s portfolio are the Pipe Interlock Management, the Anti-Collision System and the Red Zone Manager.

Key Responsibilities
Develop, maintain, and enhance PLC-based control systems
Deliver software for upgrades and new installations
Test and verify software to ensure robust, reliable and predictable system behavior
Contribute to integration with other NOV automation software
Support commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting - both internally and in collaboration with field operations
Work closely with field engineers and domain experts
Qualifications & Skills
Essential Qualifications:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Cybernetics, Mechatronics, or similar
Experience with PLC programming (Siemens S7 / TIA Portal)
Good written and verbal communication skills in English
Understanding of drilling processes and equipment
Desired Qualifications:
Understanding of barrier systems
Experience with Beckhoff / TwinCAT is a plus
Experience with high-level programming (C++) is a plus
Personal attributes:
Hands-on and solution-oriented with a strong sense of ownership
Able to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team
Interest in automation and barrier systems
Willing to share knowledge and continuously learn
