Senior Payroll & Accounting Specialist

This position is located at our head office in Bergen and reports to the Head of Finance & Accounting.
Who we’re looking for
Applicants for this role should have:
A Bachelor’s degree in economics, business Administration, accounting, or a related field;
Relevant experience with payroll processes and employment‑related administration;
Solid knowledge of payroll-and-employment‑related taxation, including statutory reporting and relevant laws and regulations;
Experience of payroll systems and a strong understanding of data quality, accuracy, and payroll controls;
A good understanding of the interface between payroll and accounting, including reconciliations and payroll‑related reporting;
A structured and reliable working style, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines and processes simultaneously;
Strong communication and problem‑solving skills, with a pragmatic and service‑minded approach towards internal and external stakeholders;
Experience from international operations; demonstrable practical knowledge of expat‑related payroll matters will be considered an advantage;
Very good written and spoken Norwegian and English language skills.
What you’ll do
The successful candidate will perform tasks and duties including:
End‑to‑end responsibility for payroll processing, ensuring accurate and timely payroll execution across Norwegian Hull Club and its entities;
Administration of payroll throughout the full employee lifecycle, including onboarding, changes during employment, and offboarding;
Ownership of payroll processes, routines, calendars, deadlines, and cut‑off dates, including coordination of payroll inputs across HR, Finance, and employees;
Ownership and maintenance of payroll‑related systems;
Responsibility for data accuracy, integrity and consistency across payroll, expense, and accounting systems;
Monitoring changes in payroll, tax, and employment‑related regulations and ensuring timely implementation in systems, processes and reporting;
Operational responsibility for employment‑related taxation, statutory payroll reporting and year‑end payroll processes, including annual reconciliation;
Management of expat‑related payroll and taxation processes, including coordination with external tax advisors where applicable;
Payroll‑to‑general ledger reconciliations and follow‑up, including payroll‑related balance sheet and expense accounts, as well as support to audits and internal controls;
Other accounting related tasks as needed.
