Sapphire R9 380 Nitro 4 GB er ansett som kanskje det beste skjermkortet for retro builds for CRT.
Det er også meget bra for pure PC retro builds i både Linux og Windows.
Sapphire-modellen er kanskje av den beste kvaliteten relativt sett fra både AMD og Nvidia.
Det er liten forskjell mellom 380 og 380X.

Viewed through a modern lens, however, the R9 380 Nitro finds a second life as a retro-PC workhorse. The 4GB framebuffer—once a selling point for contemporary titles—now comfortably handles late-2000s through mid-2010s back catalogs, while the card’s robust DirectX 11/12 support ensures wide compatibility across eras. More interestingly, the presence of dual DVI outputs (including DVI-I on many Nitro variants) makes it unusually friendly for analog signal extraction, a rarity among newer GPUs. Pair that with community tools like CRT Emudriver, and the card becomes an excellent bridge between modern systems and legacy CRT displays, enabling native 15kHz output and authentic low-resolution modes for emulation setups.
That CRT angle is where the R9 380 ages more gracefully than its gaming benchmarks might suggest. GCN-era AMD cards remain among the last widely supported GPUs for low-level timing manipulation, and the Nitro’s stable power delivery and mature drivers make it well-suited to the quirks of analog output. It won’t win any efficiency contests, nor will it keep pace with even entry-level modern GPUs in current titles, but for enthusiasts building hybrid retro rigs—equal parts Steam library and scanline nostalgia—it occupies a surprisingly sweet spot. In typical AnandTech fashion, the conclusion writes itself: not the fastest card of its time, but one whose long-term utility has outlived its original market brief.
