Senior Data Scientist for advanced AI industrial software

We are looking for a Senior Data Scientist to lead and grow our data science capability.

This role combines technical leadership, customer-facing solution development in industrial environments, and occasional applied research.

You will lead a team of data scientists / applied AI engineers building production-grade AI systems that integrate machine learning, physics-informed modelling, and generative AI.

You will work closely with customers, domain experts, and software engineers to translate industrial challenges into scalable AI solutions.

The ideal candidate combines deep technical expertise with strong leadership and stakeholder engagement skills, and thrives at the intersection of applied AI research, industrial engineering, and real-world deployment.

Responsibilities (“What will you work on?”)

Leadership & team development

• Build, mentor, and grow a high-performing data science and applied AI team

• Foster a culture of technical excellence, experimentation, and pragmatic delivery

• Support recruitment, onboarding, and professional development of data scientists
  

Applied AI & technical direction

• Lead the development of machine learning, physics-informed models, and GenAI-powered systems applied to industrial data

• Drive adoption of modern AI architectures, including LLM systems, AI agents, and hybrid ML/physics models

• Define standards for production-grade AI systems, including monitoring, evaluation, and lifecycle management

• Collaborate with product and engineering teams to integrate data science capabilities into scalable software products
  

Customer engagement & solution development

• Work directly with customers and subject matter experts (SMEs) in the asset-heavy industry to identify and scope high-value AI use cases

• Lead the design and delivery of end-to-end data science solutions, from exploration to production deployment

• Communicate technical results clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders

• Contribute to pre-sales activities, including workshops, technical discussions, and proposal development
  

Thought leadership

• Represent the company externally through technical publications, conference talks, and industry engagement

• Help shape the company’s strategy in industrial AI, GenAI applications, and physics-informed modelling

• Further develop our already high standards for quality of process and deliverables in our customer engagements
  

Required qualifications (“Who are we looking for?”)

Academic

• Master’s degree or PhD in computer science, physics, applied mathematics, statistics, engineering, or related field

• Strong foundation in statistical modelling, machine learning, and scientific computing
  

Technical Skills and Experience

• Applied Machine Learning & Data Science

• Proven experience building and deploying production machine learning systems

• Strong background in statistical modelling, time-series analysis, and predictive modelling

• Experience applying data science to real-world industrial systems
  

Physics-Informed and Hybrid Modelling

• Experience with modelling complex systems using first-principles approaches, physics-informed machine learning, or hybrid physics/ML techniques

• Ability to combine domain knowledge and physics constraints with data-driven methods to build robust, interpretable models

• Comfort working with industrial process data, sparse labels, noisy sensors and systems which physical intuition matters as much as statistical methods
  

Generative AI & Modern AI Engineering

• Hands-on experience or strong familiarity with the current GenAI frameworks (langchain, crewai etc.), LLM-based tooling, concepts such as agentic workflows or AI-assisted pipelines

• Familiarity with retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) concepts and how they can be applied to structured knowledge systems
  

Engineering & Software Development

• Strong coding skills in Python

• Experience with the core Python data science ecosystem (NumPy, Pandas, SciPy, Scikit-learn)

• Experience with time-series data handling and analysis at scale

• Familiarity with deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow is a plus

• Experience building and deploying production ML systems using MLOps practices, experiment tracking, model versioning, monitoring

• Experience building production systems using tools such as Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP)

• Experience with APIs and microservices, CI/CD workflows
  

Collaboration & Communication

• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with engineers, product teams, and domain experts

• Strong communication skills and ability to explain technical concepts clearly

• Experience working directly with customers or internal stakeholders
  

Leadership

• Proven experience leading data science teams or technical groups

• Track record of delivering AI systems into production
