Field Engineer – Surface Protection & Passive Fire Protection

Job Description

• Ensure that construction activities within surface protection and passive fire protection (PFP) are planned, qualified, executed and documented according to contract specifications, with strong focus on cost-efficient construction.
• Work as part of the Construction team and collaborate closely with the Project Material Lead Engineer, who is responsible for discipline decisions such as NCRs, TQs and design issues.
• Monitor contractor fabrication activities related to surface protection and PFP, with focus on quality, schedule, cost efficiency and HSE.
• Track work progress against plans and schedules and highlight areas of concern, including proposing corrective actions when required.
• Participate in engineering and construction reviews to ensure a feasible and cost-efficient construction outcome.
• Verify that contractor site personnel are qualified in accordance with project requirements.
• Supervise inspectors in the site team and contribute to planning and participation in audits and verifications when required.
• Review selected drawings and documentation issued by the contractor and provide discipline input to technical decisions such as NCRs, TQs and design issues.
• Ensure that systems and equipment are properly protected and preserved during fabrication and construction activities.
• Follow up that fabrication documentation and records are prepared and issued by the contractor according to requirements.
• Report deviations and highlight issues to the Construction Lead and ensure proper follow-up.
• Contribute to completion activities and support handover to commissioning, including participation in area and system punch-out activities and monitoring of punch status.

Qualification Requirements

• Relevant engineering background or technical education within construction, materials, coating, corrosion protection or similar disciplines.
• Experience with surface protection, coating, corrosion protection or passive fire protection (PFP) within industrial or offshore projects.
• Understanding of fabrication, construction and contractor follow-up in large industrial projects.
• Strong focus on quality, HSE and cost-efficient construction practices.
• Experience with construction follow-up, inspections and documentation management.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, contractors and engineering disciplines.
• Experience participating in audits, reviews and technical follow-up during fabrication and construction phases.
• Good communication skills and ability to identify and escalate deviations or technical concerns.
