Fully restored and serviced Tandberg Huldra 9 in excellent working condition.
Stable, reliable, and ready for daily use.
Restoration Overview:
Capacitor Replacement:
•All electrolytic capacitors replaced where required, including power supply and signal path
•All metallised paper capacitors replaced with modern film equivalents
•Power supply can capacitors replaced using modern discrete electrolytics
•Voltage ratings maintained or increased where appropriate
Capacitor brands used:
•Nichicon
•United Chemi-Con
•Panasonic
•WIMA
•Vishay Sprague
PCB & Soldering Work:
•Extensive solder reflow across multiple boards
•Multiple lifted PCB pads repaired and reinforced
•Damaged copper traces reconstructed and electrically varified
•Transformer solder joints reworked and secured
•All repairs restore original connectivity only (no circuit modifications)
•All soldering carried out using Kester 63/37 leaded solder for reliable joints and long-term stability.
Cleaning & Mechanical Service:
•All potentiometers cleaned and lubricated
•All switches cleaned and exercised
•Rear panel sockets cleaned
•Fuse holders cleaned
•Internal dust removal (blower + vacuum)
•Dial cord spindles, pulleys, and moving assemblies cleaned and lubricated
•Dial glass and faceplate cleaned
•Control knobs cleaned and refitted
•Faceplate surround re-foamed
•Dial lamps and stereo indicator lamp replaced
•New mains power cable fitted
•New fuses installed to correct specification
Adjustment & Testing:
•Bias and DC offset set to service manual specifications and thermally verified under extended test.
• Power output tested at 1 kHz into 8 Ω dummy loads with oscilloscope verification of clean unclipped waveform.
• Channels closely matched with low noise and hum.
•Measured output into 8 Ω corresponds closely with the original Tandberg 15 W specification under 4 Ω loading conditions.
•Full functional testing carried out
•Audio verified on all inputs
•Stereo indicator operation confirmed
•Extended run-in and heat test completed (approx. 5 hours)
Condition:
•Technically restored and operating correctly
•Electrically stable and suitable for regular use
•Cosmetic condition is very good considering age(see photos)
