About KSAT Hyper

Hyper is a strategic initiative by Kongsberg Satellite Services (KSAT) to redefine how space data is delivered, secured, and used. By extending the world's most trusted ground station network into low Earth orbit, Hyper is building a new layer of space infrastructure designed for speed, resilience, and sovereignty.

At its core, Hyper enables near-real-time access to space data anywhere on Earth. By combining an orbiting relay capability with KSAT's global ground network, Hyper drastically reduces latency between satellite tasking, data acquisition, and decision-making. This capability is increasingly critical for applications where timing, trust, and availability matter — including Earth observation, climate monitoring, security, defense, and commercial operations.

Hyper is not a single mission or a one-off system. It is a long-term infrastructure program designed to scale over time, support multiple customers and mission types, and integrate tightly with existing and future space systems. The first Hyper satellites are scheduled for launch in 2027, marking the transition from development to operations, and the starting point for a broader constellation and service evolution in the years that follow.

Joining Hyper means contributing to the early build-out of a strategically important space capability, working at the intersection of space systems, communications, and operations. The work is foundational, technically demanding, and mission-critical; it directly shapes how satellite services will be delivered at scale in the next decade.

Role Overview

The Senior Embedded Engineer designs and develops key subsystems at the core of the Hyper network. The role spans flight hardware, firmware, and software, contributing across the full development lifecycle from architecture and design through integration, validation, and on-orbit analysis.

Key Responsibilities

Embedded Systems & Payload Development

• Design and develop embedded hardware, firmware, and software for Hyper payloads

• Participate in architectural trade-offs and system design discussions

• Collaborate closely with DSP, RF, and systems engineering teams

Software & Validation

• Implement software for both spaceborne payloads and supporting ground systems

• Support lab bring-up, integration, and validation activities

• Develop tools to analyze data collected on orbit and in laboratory environments

Supplier & System Integration

• Work closely with satellite manufacturers and payload suppliers

• Support integration of embedded systems into the broader satellite and ground architecture

Required Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience with embedded systems and DSP in critical environments

• Strong engineering fundamentals in electronics, communications, and systems

• Proficiency in relevant programming and analysis tools

• Experience with satellite payloads or communications systems

Advantageous Experience

• DSP modelling and simulation (e.g. modulation, filtering, PLLs)

• FPGA/HDL tools and standard bus protocols

• RF lab equipment and validation workflows

• Security considerations in distributed or mission-critical systems
