Doren opened the Van Doren Rubber Company in Anaheim, California. The shop made and sold shoes directly to its customers, becoming popular with skateboarders who preferred their tough-but-lightweight construction and extra-grip soles. By the '70s, the brand name was shortened to Vans and became synonymous with laid-back Southern California style. The Authentic (originally called the #44
Deck Shoe) was the brand's first sneaker and its simple design has stood the test of time. Vans is upgrading their classic sneaker, combining original archival details with premium materials. Perhaps the most noticeable difference are the cushy and comfortable Sola Foam AD insoles, the result of years of developing high-rebound footbeds for all-day comfort and durability. They're designed to be anti-fatigue and are made with 30 percent content from plants. This version of the Premium Authentic reissue sneakers is made with durable eight-ounce cotton canvas uppers, waffle-rubber outsoles and the iconic Vans heel tab. Please note that sizes listed are men's. To find your women's size, subtract 1.5 from your normal size for the best fit. For example, a women's size 8.5 is a men's size 7.
