Geoscientist - Subsurface & Monitoring Technologies
We are expanding our Geoscience team within our Monitoring Discipline and are looking for a Geophysicist to join us in Bergen! Our Monitoring Discipline is at the forefront of offshore monitoring technologies across renewable energy, CO₂ sequestration, and hydrocarbon production.
Our portfolio includes gWatch – a technology based on gravity field measurements and vertical seabed deformation.gWatch provides a cost-efficient and environmentally friendly alternative to 4D seismic.
We apply advanced geophysical modelling to assess the viability of our technologies for time-lapse monitoring of hydrocarbon fields and CO₂ storage projects. In close collaboration with our clients, we integrate our data into subsurface and reservoir models.
About the Role
This role is ideal for a geoscientist with a strong interest in modelling, interpretation, and offshore monitoring technologies.
You will be an integral part of our Geoscience team, contributing to the technical development and application of Reach Subsea’s monitoring solutions, while working closely with colleagues across disciplines.
Key Responsibilities
You will work with a subset of the responsibilities below, depending on your background, experience, and interests, and in close collaboration with the rest of the Geoscience team:
Data processing, including uncertainty analysis and optimisation of data quality
Sensor characterisation and survey optimisation
Reservoir modelling to assess the suitability of Reach Subsea’s technologies at specific sites
Geomechanical modelling linking reservoir deformation to seafloor deformation measurements
Interpretation and integration of Reach Subsea’s data into client reservoir models through history matching or inversion
Present results to clients and contribute to technical and scientific forums
Support project execution, including survey preparation, data processing, and reporting, in collaboration with project leads
Qualifications
MSc or PhD in Geophysics, Physics, or a related discipline
Programming skills
Experience with geophysical, reservoir, or geomechanical modelling is an advantage
Skills
Enjoy working collaboratively in a diverse, interdisciplinary team
Strong physical intuition and curiosity
Ability to communicate complex ideas clearly and effectively
Proficient in English, both written and spoken
We offer a positive and collaborative working environment that encourages innovation, supported by attractive welfare arrangements and social benefits. You will join a dynamic team of scientists and engineers in a growing organisation committed to continuous improvement.
