About the Role
We are looking for a dedicated Product Responsible Engineer to take full technical ownership of our HVAC systems for offshore applications. In this role, you will carry end-to-end responsibility for the product lifecycle; from design and development to delivery and continuous improvement. Working closely with a skilled team of engineers and specialists, you will ensure our HVAC solutions remain industry-leading in safety, quality, environmental performance, and cost efficiency.
As PRE, you are the decision authority for all technical matters related to your product. You will approve and document changes, coordinate across disciplines, and support internal and external stakeholders with expert guidance. Your work directly supports NOV Stavanger’s vision of delivering advanced, environmentally friendly, and smart HVAC solutions for offshore drilling environments.

Key Responsibilities
Product Development & Ownership – Lead development and ensure technical excellence throughout the product lifecycle
Cost Control & Quote Evaluation – Manage product cost, planning, and evaluation of quotations
Technical Support – Provide expert guidance to internal teams, customers, and external stakeholders
Documentation Management – Create, maintain, and update product and project documentation
Project Leadership & Coordination – Collaborate with discipline engineers, other PREs, and document controllers to secure efficient execution
Delivery Responsibility – Oversee equipment deliveries and approve all changes to the product
HSE Promotion – Actively reinforce and uphold the highest standards of HSE
Product Improvement & Innovation – Drive continuous improvement and ensure competitive performance
HVAC Engineering – Perform HVAC system design, sizing, and engineering calculations
Work independently and within multidisciplinary teams
Maintain a deep understanding of all technical aspects related to your products
Qualifications & Skills
Essential Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar HVAC-relevant discipline
Minimum 5 years of Engineering and Project experience
Strong proficiency in English, both written and verbal
Ability to understand business needs and technical drivers
Skilled communicator and team collaborator
Experience with 2D/3D CAD tools
High computer literacy (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.)
Ability to work independently, understand customer requirements, develop solutions, and present them effectively
Desired Qualifications
Offshore experience
Knowledge of HVAC design, load calculations, and structural verification
Experience in designing for ergonomic work environments
Understanding of rotating/moving machinery or pressurized equipment
Familiarity with industry standards, regulations, and compliance requirements
Experience with new product development (NPD)
Soft Skills
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
High sense of ownership and accountability
Excellent coordination, communication, and stakeholder-management skills
Proactive mindset with a drive to improve processes and solutions
