The Technical Manager leads and oversees the Norway Technical Support group, ensuring effective organization, staffing, and processes to deliver subject matter expertise (SME) across operations. This role provides operational leadership and technical guidance to Operations and Rig teams, ensuring equipment functionality, availability, reliability, and compliance with all relevant regulations—including IACS (DNV), Flag State, and Coastal State requirements.
Leadership and Management
Promote and uphold Shelf Drilling’s core values on health, safety, and environment (HSE).
Define and maintain optimal staffing levels based on workload and performance metrics.
Ensure team compliance with company systems (CMMS, RIMDrill, HSE Dashboard, etc.) and document continuous improvement initiatives.
Align technical operations with company and departmental objectives through clear communication and coordination with local, regional, and corporate management.
Foster relationships with strategic vendors, OEMs, and industry organizations (e.g., IADC, Norges Rederiforbund).
Ensure adherence to Local Coastal State technical and maintenance regulations.
Drive a culture of continuous improvement aligned with ISO and international standards.
Participate in budget preparation, lifecycle cost planning, and new business projections.
Technical Operations
Provide daily technical support, expertise, and guidance to Operations and Rig teams.
Oversee development and maintenance of safety-critical systems, equipment inventories, and spare part strategies (both onboard and onshore).
Develop and optimize maintenance strategies for critical and non-critical equipment.
Lead periodic reviews of planned maintenance to enhance efficiency, align with contracts, and implement best practices.
Ensure consistent maintenance standards across all Shelf Drilling units operating in the region.
Monitor equipment performance and failures; identify trends and collaborate with OEMs to improve reliability and uptime.
Manage maintenance planning, deferrals, analysis, and technical studies (e.g., FMECA, performance standards, barrier analyses).
Approve changes to maintenance programs and track KPIs.
Education, minimum required:
Bachelor’s degree in technical discipline or equivalent industry experience.
Experience, minimum required:
10 years of progressive experience in maintenance or technical operations related to marine/offshore equipment.
At least 5 years in a supervisory role managing maintenance personnel or technical support teams.
