Binding: Leather. Full dark brown Indian goatskin leather blocked in gold with a distinctive Blake rabbit; dark red endleaves. Dark red slip case blocked in gold with titling designed in Blake’s hand.
Type: Poliphilus and Blado. Printed and bound by Kösel. 3.4 lbs color; 4TO; 254 pages; Includes ephemera Letter, etc. Laid in.
This is the only complete piece like this that has survived from Roman times. Printed on Old Mill Stucco.
Limited edition # 487 out of 1000, signed and hand-numbered by illustrator Quentin Blake.
The edition statement reads in part ‘limited to 1000 copies signed and numbered by the artist for sale to members of The Folio Society, and 25 lettered copies which are not for sale’. Blake has signed each one. In addition to 12 full-page colour illustrations, Blake has provided 34 smaller drawings.
A fine copy in like slipcase.
