Senior Structural Design Engineer

At Syncrolift, we design and deliver the world’s most advanced ship-lifting systems. We’re not just lifting ships, we also design transfer systems for moving ships into land or service. Now we’re looking for a Senior Design Engineer who will in 1-2 years have a lead role designing shiplifts and transfer systems.

This is a hands-on engineering role with global reach. You’ll work in a lean, agile team with high responsibility, from concept to completion — and sometimes, all the way to the dock.

What You’ll Do

• Design big, heavy, clever things: large mechanical structures and machines for shipyards

• Create 2D/3D models, drawings, and technical documentation

• Crunch numbers with both CAD and classic calculations

• Collaborate across teams to deliver on time, on budget, and to spec

• Join design reviews and provide guidance to junior engineers

• Think, test, and improve — we're always learning and upgrading

• Work with customers, suppliers and projects all over the world.

Who You Are

• A mechanical engineer (Bachelor’s or Master’s) with 7+ years of experience in large object structural design

• Strong in CAD (we use 3DEXPERIENCE platform) and FEA tools

• Knows materials, manufacturing, and what makes a design actually work

• Loves a challenge and works well in a small team with big impact

• Fluent in English, written and spoken (Norwegian is a bonus)

• Have the right to work in Norway (citizen, EU/EEA resident, or valid work permit)?

• Can explain complex stuff clearly (even with a pencil and a napkin)

• Enjoy mentoring others and sharing what you know

• Have been on site and know what “it looked better in CAD” means
