'An outstanding example of current architecture' is how the Royal Institute of British Architects praised Tate Gallery St Ives. Designed by the architects Evans and Shalev, it is an award-winning building in a spectacular location. This visual narrative of the project to build a new gallery includes the architects' own photographic notes of St Ives and the site, and shows their influences, designs, views of the construction, and the Gallery completed and in use. Linked by explanatory texts, these images provide intriguing insights into the architecture as it emerged in the design and building process.
