Senior Data Scientist

Telenor Business? overall ambition is to be the favourite partner for the Enterprise and Public Sector in Norway by digitalizing their workforce and business processes. The Smart Digital unit in the Business Division is set up to guide our customers on their digitalization journey and deliver new digital services in the Norwegian market. One of the services we are establishing as part of the Internet of Things and Big Data department is Mobility Analytics: Analysis and insight into human mobility patterns through location data from our mobile network. To support this mission we are now searching for a Senior Data Scientist.

As a Senior Data Scientist, you will be a driver for further development of the Mobility Analytics service. You will be working with a combination of analytical deliverables to customers as well as improving and expanding the service.

This position will report to Magnus Muri Boberg, Head of Internet of Things and Big Data.

Do you want to shape how Telenor uses big data and IoT to create solutions for smarter cities, transportation, retail and tourism?

Key responsibilities

• Understand the business challenge and customer demands - and suggest analytical approaches to meet these
• Design and perform analyses based on internal and external sources, with a strong focus on location data
• Work on development, testing and putting solutions into production with support from senior data scientists, research scientists, data architects, partners and project- / product managers
• Structure, deliver and present analysis reports for external clients
• Participate in external client meetings
•  Suggest requirements for system support and follow up implementation of this
• Understand necessary privacy regulations and ensure that we at all times are compliant with these
• Develop tools and frameworks in order to further develop the Mobility Analytics service in Telenor Norway

Qualifications

• Master?s degree in mathematics, statistics, computer science or engineering or another field of study that regularly deals with large volumes of data
• Some relevant work experience in advanced quantitative analysis within a business environment, i.e. machine learning, econometrics and Big Data methods
• Experience in presenting complex issues to business executives is a benefit
• Solid knowledge of and experience in using tools such as SAS, R, Python, Java or Scala, Matlab, Tableau or equivalent. Experience in Big Data tools such as Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, is an advantage.
• Good knowledge of IT & data warehousing systems in telecommunications is an advantage
• Fluent in English, both oral and written. Norwegian is an advantage but not a requirement
