Opplevelser og landskap i verdensklasse
Området ligger strategisk til ift. det beste Vestlandet kan by på.
En 2-timers kjøretur bringer deg til Åndalsnes med Trollveggen og Trollstigen. Trollstigen bringer deg til Valldal via Gudbrandsjuvet og til Geiranger på Verdensarv-lista. Ruta kalles the Golden Route og har bl.a. Ørnesvingene og Dalsnibba-vegen (1500 moh.).
Veiene er nå åpnet etter sikringsarbeider.
Molde er nærmeste by, en port til Bud og Atlanterhavsveien mot Kristiansund.

Family Cottage

Our family cottage is located at the western-most tip of the Otrøya island, at Tangen (English meaning is "tip") in Midsund.

Nice and warm
The cottage is registered as the Farmhouse on the small farm it belongs to.
When it was built 2-3 decades ago, it was planned as a summer house primarily.
Still, it is fully insulated in accordance with arctic standards and easily serves all-year use.

Outdoor activities
Spend an evening by the BBQ and take a walk by the sea and watch the sun set behind the Ona Lighthouse way out at the rim, meeting the great Atlantic Ocean in the horizon.
Or use the area to climb some of the mountains and hills made easily available due to the "sherpa stair cases" built by the Sherpas in their low season, when no climber can approach the peaks in the Himalayas, including Mount Everest and the other 8000 peaks. For many years they have come to Midsund to make the mountains there available for the many, not just the few.

World-class sights, views and experiences
The general area is at the very heart of the best sights, views and experiences western Norway can offer. Within a 2 hour ride you find Aandalsnes with the Troll Wall and the Trollstigen scenic route.
The Trollstigen road leads to Valldal passed the Great Falls and on to Geiranger (on the World Heritage List) and the Golden Route (with the Eagle Bends and sightseeing spots), including the Dalsnibba summit (1500 m above sea level).
All these roads are now open for traffic after a year of considerable safety work.
The nearest town is Molde, which is a gateway to Bud and the Atlantic Route towards Kristiansund, and a score of exceptional landscapes.

Family ownership and due care
The property has been family owned over several generations. It is not rented year-round or to “just anybody”.
This is a family retreat and is kept in good order for the family to enjoy the place from time to time. Please, enjoy the property like we do, take good care of it while you're there and follow the rules of the land and the property.

Hytta er våningshuset på småbruket den tilhører. Mest brukt om sommeren, men fullt vinterisolert jf. byggestandard. En trebygning jf. norsk moderne byggeskikk. Alle fasiliteter som kjøkken, bad, strøm, vann, 3 P-plasser, WiFi og TV.
Ett soverom med queen-size-seng i 1. etasje. To separate soverom oppe med 90 x 200-senger. Alle sengene og alt sengeutstyr er nyanskaffet i mars 2026. Ta med eget sengetøy eller benytt deg av det nye vi har anskaffet.

Wooden buildings are the hall mark of Norwegian constructions, and this cottage has wooden cladding and wooden interior.
All facilities are there, including a fully equipped kitchen, bathroom and enough electric power to operate appliances, incl. freezers to preserve fish. WiFi is available and a TV, of course.
One bedroom with a queen-size bed on the ground floor and two separate bedrooms upstairs with two 90 x 200 cm beds in each room.
All beds and bed equipment is new and fresh from March 2026.
Brind your own linen or use what is provided, always clean and fresh.

Kun to andre hytter i området, så her får du ro og fred. Dette er vårt familiested og vi håper du vil behandle det pent mens du nyter dagene.
Egen småbåthavn på eiendommen der en 15-fots åpen landstedbåt med utenbordsmptor er tilgjengelig. Fryser til å ta vare på fisk du måtte fiske om du vil.

En heldagstur kan gå fra Tangen-Bud-Atlanterhavsveien-Sunndalsøra-Oppdal-Dombås over Dovre/Hjerkinn med moskusene i Snøhetta-massivet. På hjemveien ned Romsdalen passerer du Trollveggen før du kan dra østover til Trollstigen (og videre til Geiranger) eller videre sørover fra Åndalsnes til Jugend Jugendbyen Ålesund, hvis du virkelig vil maksimere dagen i stedet for å ta flere dagsturer.

The Midsund area and archipelago is now a part of Molde municipality.
Our cottage sits 100 m from the sea, at the edge of farmland, sheltered from the ocean's might and soaring eagles by small closes of wooded hills.

Only two other cottages are in the area, so full privacy and lots of calm and quiet can be expected.
This is our family retreat, and we hope you will treat it gently while enjoying it.
Marina
The property has its own private marina. The cottage offers a 15 foot open fishing boat with an outboard engine for those who want to go fishing.
You can prepare your catch by the sea and freeze your prepared fillets in the freezers.
Don't forget to prepare some of your fresh catch in the kitchen and feast on what the ocean provides.

A full-day round trip can bring you from Tangen to Bud, via the Atlantic Route to Kristiansund, onwards to Oppdal and over the Dovre mountain pass to Dombås, passing the ancient, wild Moskus-okse (Musk oxe) in the Snøhetta peak area.
Returning through Romsdalen you'll pass the Troll Wall centre before you have the option to turn east to reach the Trollsitigen road, view the Great Falls before Valldal and the ferry towards the Geiranger section of the Golden Route.
Returing to Midsund and Tangen via the "Jugend city" Aalesund, if you like busy and long full-day excursions.
If not, cut the trip shorter and divide the scenary on several excursion days.
Many tourists take the opportunity to see these sights on their way to the western seaboard, or on their way home.

You can even go by ferry to the great Ona Lighthouse, on Ona.

There are many caves on the Midsund islands, and a walk by the sea on Midøya is likely to put you in prime position to see the eagles nesting on a set of smaller islands close to shore.
We never disturb the wildlife, of course, as there are many read listed species in the area.
