Professional-grade Cisco Systems 2911 Integrated Services Router from the Cisco 2900 Series, removed from a professional installation. This is a serious enterprise unit, not consumer networking gear. Clean, substantial, well-built chassis with rack ears fitted, and clearly from a proper network environment.
I have now carried out a basic power-on check and can describe the behavior in detail.
Power / startup behavior observed:
• The rear AC OK indicator lights green when mains power is connected.
• Even with the rear switch in the 0 / off position, the unit shows that AC is present.
• When switched on, the router begins a startup sequence.
• On the front panel, the SYS light initially shows yellow/amber.
• The ACT light comes on green.
• After a short while, it sounds like the unit is beginning to start up further internally.
• At some point the first status light appears to go green briefly, suggesting that the router gets partway into boot.
• Then the fan ramps up noticeably, the sequence appears to fail, and the unit falls back to the earlier state with SYS amber/yellow again.
• It then repeats this cycle approximately every 30 seconds, as if attempting to boot, failing, and restarting.
So this unit is not being sold as fully working / ready for deployment in its current state. It is being sold as a powering-on enterprise unit with repeat boot / restart behavior.
This kind of behavior may be caused by several things, for example:
• corrupted or missing Cisco IOS / boot image
• flash / boot media issue
• configuration or boot variable issue
• one installed module / card causing the boot process to fail
• memory / motherboard fault
• power issue under load, even though AC input and standby behavior are present
For the right buyer, this is still very interesting, because these units are often recoverable by someone with Cisco knowledge and the right tools.

• connect via console cable and inspect boot messages
