The MacBook is a bit old and no longer supported by Apple, so it has MX Linux installed, which restores its functionality. There is no MacOS.
I think is model from 2010.

The computer includes an optical drive, but I haven't tested it because I don't have a CD.
The battery works, but I haven't checked for how long, but its efficiency is listed at 47%.
