Per Didrik Wærner, ( born in Oslo 1948 ) works in the abstract painting tradition. His aim is to achieve an aesthetic and visual impression through his ability to harmonize colour and form. An objective is to create pictorial space from balancing the various contrasting elements in his works. Every element in his the paintings is equally important. P.D.Wærner sets about his task without a defined motive or composition. The first stroke gives the direction. ” He listens to what he sees and the painting tells him the way. ” It is an dialogue where the painting is the master and the painter is the tool “. At the end of the creative process the painting falls to rest, expressing silence and harmony although there is a lot of movement and action, resulting in an contemplative, meditative experience.
