The Fujica HD-1 is a heavy-duty 35mm compact camera from Fuji, launched in 1979. It was the start of a series of weatherproof cameras for use on construction sites and rough terrain. The lens is a Fujinon 38mm, f/2.8 encased behind a large protective window, with scale focusing.
HD-1 FUJICA, which was resistant to water, sand, and corrosion.
This camera featured a tough polycarbonate body for extra mechanical strength, as well as a waterproofing ring for outstanding water resistance. Further, the lens was encased under protective glass to prevent the incursion of sand, dust, and debris.
Empowering photographers to work in extremely challenging conditions and environments, the HD-1 FUJICA found use in a wide variety of fields. With this model, Fujifilm created an entirely new segment in the market: the heavy-duty camera.
