The author sets out to answer such questions as: When should you introduce the roller, and then the saddle, prior to backing?; How do you accustom the unwilling pupil to the bit?; At what stage should lungeing start?; How do you avoid over-facing a young horse, and asking too much too soon? She delivers practical advice on all aspects of working with youngsters, from early handling, through backing, lungeing and long-reining, to riding out and early jumping. The book contains specially commissioned photographs taken at the author's own stud in Hampshire.
