Selling my late 2012 27-inch iMac due to upgrade.
I have owned this maxed-out machine since new and it is still a workhorse and has never let me down.
Basic specs:
- 3.4 GHz Quad Core i7 (highest available spec)
- 3TB Fusion Drive
- 27-inch screen, 2560 x 1440 resolution
- 32gb RAM (max possible on this machine)
- 2gb VRAM (max possible on this machine)
- NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680MX graphics card
- 4 x USB-A ports, 2 x Thunderbolt / Display ports, Ethernet port, built in SD card reader.
This machine was built and used for photo and video editing and is still powerful enough to run Lightroom, Photoshop, FCPX, Resolve, and others. Ok it’s not fast, but it will run them smooth and steady, without crashes.
The machine will be delivered with a clean factory MacOS 10 Catalina install, so please be aware that the software I mentioned above is not included.
Note: Apple has artificially limited OS upgrades for older machines like this, but if you have some basic technical skills and some patience you can (legally) bypass these restrictions by installing software such as Open Core Legacy Patcher (OCLP). If you look up Mr. Macintosh OCLP on YouTube you can see what’s involved in that process, but if i can do it anyone can do it :)
I have been running this machine in this way for the past few years which is why you will see in the pictures that it’s running OS 13 (Ventura) with the latest versions of Adobe, FCPX and Resolve 20. It works extremely well, and is why I’ve been able to effectively use this 15 year old computer with a big clear display as a secondary workstation alongside an M1 Max for video and photo editing.
If desired, I can do a clean OCLP install with the latest MacOS 15 included in the price, but then you should be willing to manage future OCLP/MacOS updates yourself according to the online guidance.
In short - this is an older but still powerful and stable machine with the possibility to run the latest software, at a fraction of the price of a new Mac.
Unfortunately this does not come with keyboard or mouse (I use a UK format keyboard that I need to keep). It does come with original Apple power cord.
