Project description
We are seeking a dedicated, creative and enthusiastic PhD student at our Department of Radiation Biology. The position is available for 3 years. The position will be associated with Heidi Lyng's research activity on clinical radiation biology. The selected candidate is expected to work on a project were MR images are used to study the effect of radiation therapy in prostate cancer patients. A goal is also to investigate if a selected group of prostate cancer patients can benefit from proton therapy, which will be available at Oslo University hosptial from 2025. The project is highly cross-disciplinary, with vital contributions from physics, biology and oncology.

Duties and responsibilities

Tasks
The project will involve analysis of MR images using in house develeoped programs and development of new methods to extract biological information from prostate cancer. Furthermore, the candidate will be instumental in quality assuring MR imaging working in close collaboration with radiologist and diagnostic physecist.

  • Write protocols, reports and paper drafts
  • Collect and analyze data
  • Participate and engage in collaborations, meetings and scientific discussions
  • Assist MSc- and PhD-students and researchers

Qualifications

Qualifications
The candidate must have the following qualifications:

  • Master in medical physics, biophysics, or equivalent
  • Significant, proven experience with image analysis
  • Strong practical and theoretical insight into MR imaging
  • Fluent in oral and written English

It is a great advantage if the candidate has the following qualifications:

  • Experience with Matlab programming
  • Experience with MR quality assurance
  • Knowledge on radiation biology and radiotherapy
