Background
We hereby announce a 100% position as analytic chemist in the research group Marine Ecology. The position shall be filled as soon as possible.
NORCE's Marine Ecology laboratory focuses on the impact of human activities (e.g. pollution by organic compounds, pharmaceuticals, microplastic) on the environment and marine life. We seek a highly motivated staff member to manage the general operation of the analytical chemistry laboratory, the preparation, measurement and data analysis of scientific samples, as well as general HSE.
Work tasks
- Operation of GC-MS/MS and LC-MS/MS, including maintenance and calibration
- Preparation of samples for measurements
- General laboratory organization as well as chemicals data & sample management
- Openness to learn other analytical techniques such as photometric or fluorometric analyses, filtration and extraction of DNA samples, μ-FTIR scans of microplastic samples
Requirements
- Degree in the field of analytical chemistry or similar
- Practical experience in operation of GC-MS/MS and/or LC-MS/MS and data evaluation with relevant software
- Practical experience in the preparation (or purification) of samples for GC-MS/MS and/or LC-MS/MS (e.g. using SPE, MASE, QuEChERS, liquid-liquid extraction, etc.)
- Commitment and willingness to learn and adapt analytical methods
- Good communication skills and fluency in Norwegian and English.
