For our Norwegian Support Office in Oslo, we’re looking for a detail-oriented and analytical new colleague.


Your new workday 

As Commercial Finance Manager you will become a vital part of the Norwegian Finance function. With direct report to Head of Finance, you will lead a team consisting of three experienced controllers, making sure the function is adding financial overview, modelling, reports, comments, and advice to every aspect of the Specsavers business. As part of this role, you will ensure that our management team & other relevant stakeholders have access to all insights needed to ensure control and advancement of the business from both an operational, financial and business model perspective.

You will play an instrumental role in supporting commercial analysis and business decision-making within the country, anticipating and interpreting business requirements, bringing insight, and challenge, and providing analysis as a valued business partner. Your focus will be to provide critical insights to our management team and other key stakeholders, enabling them to drive the business forward strategically and operationally, as well as on delivering actionable intelligence across operational efficiency, financial performance, and business model optimization.  

Your most important job tasks will be:

  • Responsible for commercial financial modelling and analysis for the Norwegian head office and the Norwegian stores.
  • Be a valued business partner for the Norwegian leadership group providing analytical insights derived from trading KPIs and other data sources, internal as well as external. 
  • Provide detailed analysis and insights on monthly reporting as well as ad hoc reporting – for head office and stores, understanding the underlying drivers of performance. Commenting on variances explaining drivers and recommending corrective actions.
  • Drive the yearly budget process, rolling forecasts, and regularly identify risks and opportunities for the head office and stores in line with requirements from the region and group.
  • Help develop and maintain financial models and create business cases to support key decisions including pricing strategies, investments, and identifying actionable opportunities and insights as well as highlighting risks.
  • Undertake campaign modelling and perform post reviews to learn, improve and adapt to future planning.
  • Drive process improvements and efficiency enhancements within the commercial function in close collaboration with the Head of Finance and help implement new procedures and systems as required for the Norwegian business and in line with Regional/Group solutions.
  • Help drive the BI agenda for the finance function to ensure continued delivery of insights based on data and facts. 

Managing & Engaging

  • Be a motivating and engaging leader and manager of the team of 3 experienced Controllers and ensure direct reports are qualified & efficient, as well as provide a supporting environment for them to develop in their roles.
  • Continue to build knowledge and best practices in the function, also by applying BI tools. 
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, able to build cross-functional relationships, becoming a trusted advisor in analytical and commercial topics/matters.

Who you are 

We are looking for a Commercial Finance Manager who has experience working with controlling, management accounting and reporting. Coming from a similar position today with management experience will be a huge advantage. The role requires an individual who has a great understanding of stakeholder management and speaks Norwegian and English fluently to ensure consistent collaboration.

Additionally, we are looking for a person who can provide proactive solutions to improve processes, and who likes to work in a fast-paced environment. 

In short, the potential Commercial Finance Manager must accommodate following qualifications:

  • 6 – 10 years of experience with controlling and reporting, preferably from a similar role in a large cooperation.
  • 3-5 years’ experience of managing people, preferably with teams of size 3-5.
  • Excellent Microsoft Excel skills. 
  • Power BI user skills or desire to pick these up.
  • Master’s degree in finance, economy, or the like.
  • Good communication and presentation skills with the ability to engage with colleagues at all levels, including those that are non-finance. 

Further desirable characteristics: 

  • Previous experience in a retail environment and/or franchise environment.
  • Broad knowledge of the competitive retail landscape.
