Purpose & Scope

The Head of Events will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating the planning of all event business through effective account and relationship management.

Manage and facilitate all aspects of the Events department with a view to exceed financial goals and guests and members expectations.

Ensure The Conduit is a key destination for high profile events, weddings and other events that are proactively and effectively managed with meticulous structured leadership.

The successful candidate will be an accomplished lead within events with demonstrable understanding of revenue management systems and capable of effectively leading highly skilled teams.

This role will require a strong business development mindset to develop events business with corporates, agents and key organisations within the impact community – driving relevant paid for events to The Conduit Oslo.

Responsibilities & Key Duties

  • Developing, implementing and enforcing function space yield management guidelines thereby ensuring the highest profitability for The Conduit
  • Managing the Events team and conduct ‘one to one’ meetings, ensuring team and guest satisfaction in line with strategic goals
  • Ensuring the smooth running of all functions and events held within the department’s scope
  • Ensuring effective relationship management of existing accounts, and remaining accountable for event annual business re-contracting
  • Ensuring effective communication between the Events team and the Operational team to ensure that there is cohesiveness and a streamlined process for organisers and guests/members
  • Exceeding personal goals as well as departmental budget on a yearly basis
  • Ensuring and enforcing the integrity of NorthStar at all times
  • Effective team management through training, development and performance management
  • Building and maintaining an engaged team
  • Attending leadership, HOD meetings, monthly profit and loss reviews and other meetings as required
  • Ensuring strict compliance with health and safety guidelines
  • Maintaining a working knowledge of the operation and service capabilities of all other departments as they relate to the service of events
  • Initiating creative concepts that will allow the Conduit to gain competitive advantage and a build strong reputation in London venues as well as comparable international venues
  • Maintaining effective communication within department, being responsive to training and instruction and appraise management of any concerns, suggestions and ideas
  • Being an ambassador of the company at all times, recommending and winning prospective events from market information and other resources
  • Ensuring that invoices are issued correctly and in a timely manner, with complete ownership taken
  • Personally managing key accounts, VIP visits and protocol related activity
  • Ensuring that team members are actively up-selling at all times and that the unique selling points
  • Ensuring accuracy in figures, effecting weekly forecasts,
  • Departmental budget, effective cost controls and function space yield maximisation
  • Developing the annual business and marketing plan for the department in conjunction with the Marketing Manager
  • Partaking in establishing strategic action plans, with the Food & Beverage Team, to enhance the operation of the Events Department as well as developing new products designed to increase the number and quality of offerings available to meeting planners
  • Attending BEO reviews, pre-cons, F&B operations meetings and other meetings as required
  • Alongside your key duties you may be asked to complete other tasks as and when necessary and reasonably required in line with business needs.

  • Understanding revenue management tools and strategic planning

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
