An increasing number of countries are implementing deposit return systems and therefore TOMRA is aiming to double our business in the next 5 years.

To support this growth, TOMRA Collection is looking for a talented Software Manager to join our RVM (Reverse Vending Machine) Software department and strengthen the Technology organization. You will be responsible for ensuring the quality, and scalability of TOMRA Collection embedded software products.

TOMRA Collection has a broad portfolio of hardware and software products, which are sold to both established and new markets all over the world. To support the growth, we want to strengthen the management function by forming two departments that will handle all development and maintenance of RVM Software. 

Together with other software managers, software architects, and the cross-functional software teams, you will define the next generation software that will enable sustainable growth and support the next generation of TOMRA reverse vending machines and solutions. 

You will support your team of highly skilled software developers with a broad competence and high innovation pace developing global software for reverse vending machines. Be responsible for exceptional alignment, transparency of goals and high-level priorities which will enable your team to work efficiently, be motivated, inspired and enjoy their day-to-day work at TOMRA.

You will play a lead role in understanding and translating business needs into software architectures and solutions, and providing guidance to achieve a successful implementation and an optimal software development life cycle, in close relation with Software Management and other teams within The Solution Hub in Asker.


Main responsibilities

Strategic:

  • Ensure suitable department competence for present and future demands 
  • Establish suitable software architecture for current and future products 
  • Prioritize and incorporate business aspects in day to day decisions 
  • Contribute to definition of TOMRA Collection technology strategy and responsible for own discipline strategy 
  • Propose research activities and feasibility studies 
  • Close collaboration and co-development with the other software department 

Operational:

  • Lead and ensure your team is focusing on the prioritized tasks  
  • Facilitate and support team in product maintenance and ensure product life-cycle responsibility are anchored in teams. 
  • Continuously work for an improved way of working to deliver state of the art products, improve cost and competitiveness. 
  • Continuously monitor and secure required short term development capacity trough consultant agreements 
  • Ensure individual employee understanding, development, and motivation 


Qualifications

  • Msc in software related studies. Relevant work experience may compensate for lack of formal education 
  • Extensive experience in software architecture and in agile software development
