VP, Head of Business Intelligence

Gard is looking for an experienced and inspiring leader of the Business Intelligence function of the Group. The right candidate will be a part of Gard’s Finance Leadership Team and will have the responsibility for two teams; Business Controlling (5 people) and Datawarehouse and Business Intelligence (9 people). As the leader of these two highly competent and experienced teams, you will have a unique opportunity to transform our deep range of transactional data from the Datawarehouse into meaningful insights to be shared with both colleagues and externals. You will have a key role in defining Gard’s financial targets, developing our capital management as well as monitoring our performance against goals.

• Business Controlling : Responsible for the performance management of the group’s insurance and investment operations. This includes preparing the group’s Financial Plan, a six-year financial prognosis used for a wide range of internal and external purposes (such as business performance, capital planning and bonus scheme). Furthermore, the business controlling team follows up the Group’s capital management procedures to ensure that the group’s financial strength is sufficient to meet internal and external requirements. In addition, the team also has the responsibility for the internal capital model validation process.
• Business Intelligence and Data Warehouse: The BI and DWH team has the responsibility for Gard’s structured data, which are stored in our Datawarehouse. We use Azure SQL databases for storage, Azure Data Factory for ETL jobs and MS Power BI for visualization purposes.

Gard relies heavily on the use of Datawarehouse reports for most of the core business functions.

In addition to gathering data and making it accessible to the organisation, the DWH and BI team produce Power BI reports from which colleagues can gain a better understanding of how we are performing.

The right candidate holds a degree in Finance or other relevant educational background. You have experience from some of the following finance disciplines: financial reporting, management reporting, performance management, capital management, data warehouse etc.

Leadership experience from a larger, well organized finance organizations is an advantage.

On a personal note: Management reporting is essentially about understanding and explaining the key drivers of our business performance. To successfully do so, you need an analytical and structured mindset. You should also have a solid understanding of finance and technology.

As a leader of leaders, you will need excellent collaboration skills. You inspire and motivate the two teams to develop and deliver on Gard’s goals. You are slightly impatient, and always eager to develop further.
