Head of engineering for fast growing travel-tech company

We are experiencing strong customer growth and need to expand our development department with one Head of Engineering in a permanent 100% position. 

We are looking for a proper computer engineer who helps us both with the development of new cool new things, modernization of the solution and operation of our systems. We use a number of different technologies in Zaui Stay, the main ones being:

•   Java - for the backend of our cloud service - (over time, TypeScript will take over for Java)

•   TypeScript and Angular – for the new version of our frontend and middleware team that talks to the Java backend

•   PHP - which generates the front end of the original version of our cloud system and operates some internal support tools - but will be phased out

•   Python – used as script on a couple of older Raspberry PI servers we operate

Our stack is based on Linux - we run our own servers and are on the way to a more modern architecture. As head of engineering, it's important to have a basic understanding of how our stack works. We have a great development team that helps out and takes responsibility for their code. Furter, many of our clients use a hardware supplied by us to enable automated check in check out, which is also part of the stack. We need help with maintenance and improvement with backend, backup, monitoring for stable availability of services and to be able to operate the hotels as automatically as possible.

We offer an opportunity to take responsibility for the process from A-Z and have complete product ownership for a product used by more than 90 hotels today and a great international growth potential. In addition, there will be the opportunity to play a central role in the development of common solutions and a comprehensive platform together with the other products in Zaui Group: Ride, Do and GoTo Hub.

As head of engineering at Zaui Stay, you will be central to the development of our product. You will be part of our team of local and remote developers. We use agile development methodology and run sprints and standups, but in your role you will be able to influence this. Main tasks will be further development and implementation of new functionality for our customers and users, product road map, managing our local and offshore development team as well as integration solutions with external systems and coordinating with sister companies/products Zaui Ride, Zaui Do and GoTo Hub. The position reports to the CEO.
