Ready for a new challenge as R&D Manager?

Your background

• Master's degree in computer science or equivalent
• Relevant development experience
• 3+ years of experience as a team lead, project manager or equivalent
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Strong team building skills
• Good understanding of Agile manager principles

Responsibilities

• Be part of building the R&D organization together with the CTO
• Hire new team members and help grow the capabilities in the existing teams
• Encourage and support Communities of Practice helping to spread knowledge and increase expertise
• Be the Line Manager for two teams of 6-8 people, conducting performance development, coaching, and mentoring of individuals
• Help the team with business context from the wider business and help navigate the various product domains and new knowledge acquisition
• Assist the team and wider department in definition and improvements of process and metrics, enabling better decisions with higher impact and greater value
• Create and develop policies for the R&D organization

Working at Appear

You will join Appear and be introduced to two teams that you will be R&D Manager for. The teams will take you through what they are working on now and how it fits into the wider products. You will meet the Product Owners and get an outline of the overall product, strategy and direction of what the teams are working on.

During the first month you will spend most of your time with your teams and PO, understanding the business domain, company values and culture. You will start to have frequent conversations with the individuals in your teams, working with them on their current challenges, and coaching them towards personal and professional growth.

You will be involved in the process of creating products and features from idea to delivery. You will have a big impact on process and helping your teams grow. You will be working closely with co-workers from diverse backgrounds to solve complex problems. Appear is a multidisciplinary engineering organization with expertise in hardware, software, and FPGA.
