Andøya Spaceport is looking for an experienced engineering manager to take responsibility for delivery of launch services to clients.
The role of the Orbital Mission Manager (OMM) is to lead spaceport support for a launch mission at a technical level, from initial customer contact through to launch execution. The responsibility is to establish an effective technical communications channel with the customer, ensuring that requirements are clearly defined, mission feasibility is assessed and risks understood, spaceport services are clearly defined, a mission safety plan is developed and agreed with the customer, resources are coordinated, the mission executed according to plan and lessons learnt are acted upon.
The OMM will be required to quickly develop a sound understanding of an orbital launch operation and the systems and procedures put in place to conducted it safely from Andøya. The role combines engineering expertise with the management and communications skills to interact effectively with customers and co-ordinate services provided by specialist areas supporting the core processes of a launch operation. He or she will ensure that hazardous launch operations are rigorously planned to manage risk and efficiently executed to deliver a commercially competitive service.

- Determine customer needs and priorities
Qualifications - education
- University degree or highet education in a relevant discipline
- Engineering management experience
- Experience in the space, aerospace or other relevant industry
- Some expertise in safety assessment and risk management
- It must be possible for the individual to obtain a Norwegian security clearance
Personal qualities
- Customer-facing, good communication, presentation and team working skills
- Outgoing personality with the ability to build networks and gain trust and cooperation
- Driven, dedicated to long sales cycles
- Rigorous, structured and efficient
- Experience in international sales is an advantage; national key account experience and proven record essential
- Proficient language skills in English (oral and written), Norwegian is preferable, but not essential
- Experienced in IT and office applications
