Morrow Batteries aims to develop and manufacture the most sustainable batteries in the world. Our sustainability strategy includes cell manufacturing based on 100% renewable energy and with zero-carbon footprint, minimizing carbon footprint in the whole supply chain and creating a closed loop system for recycling of battery materials.

In this context we are building a battery industrialization centre and a giga battery cell factory in the south of Norway - developing and industrializing new battery technologies. The modern facility will make it possible for Morrow to industrialize its future battery cell technologies and conduct customer qualifications. It will have world-leading technology that facilitates for production of cathode active materials and battery cells intended for qualification for the European automotive industry but also other customers from the energy storage and consumer market.

Our first factory will manufacture differentiated and high-performance battery cells based on the existing Li-ion technology platform. Morrow is also investing in R&D on more sustainable battery chemistries, including Manganese rich cell chemistries and a breakthrough Lithium-Sulphur-technology, to be at the forefront of battery technology development.

Morrow is strategically located on the “Battery Coast” in the South of Norway.

We are seeking a dedicated procurement specialist that is self-driven, competent in prioritizing and working with little supervision. The candidate will work broadly in the organization and interact with the company's business and technical departments to define procurement requirements and needs. This is a new position, which allows you to shape and develop your role, but also requires that you be structured and thorough. To do so, the ideal candidate must be self-motivated and trustworthy. The procurement manager will be based in the Company’s office in Arendal on the South Coast of Norway.

Tasks and responsibilities:

  • Review and negotiate the key contracts and agreements for battery materials and components, as well as service contracts, etc.
  • Establish contract strategies, market assessments, prequalification, etc. and prepare invitations to tenders/enquiry documents
  • Development, implementation, and improvement of procurement processes; procedures, best practices, methods, and tools
  • Evaluate, negotiate, and award contracts
  • Administrate and follow-up on contracts and supplier performance
  • Follow-up contract execution, including milestone payments, claims, etc.
  • Develop a cost roadmap combining lessons learnt from past projects, benchmarking, and future forecasts to ensure effective pricing and structure of new procurement projects
  • Support and interact with the R&D, industrialization, and manufacturing teams with your procurement process knowledge
  • Be actively involved in company initiatives related to battery material and component procurement
  • Proactively build and maintain your up-to-date knowledge of the battery value chain, and battery materials/components

Education/Experience

  • Master's or bachelor’s degree in Legal, Business, Financial, Engineering and or other relevant disciplines such as Industrial or Chemical.
  • Minimum 5 years of procurement experience, ideally in the battery, process, chemical or related industries.

Specific Skills/Abilities

  • Strong understanding and knowledge of procurement strategies and execution
  • Good business acumen with an understanding of financial risk and opportunity
  • High level of integrity

Possess strong analytical capabilities

  • Fluent English is a must. Additional languages are a plus
  • Have a proactive and pragmatic approach to solving challenges
  • Be self-driven with the ability to perform well both individually and in multi-disciplinary and cross-functional teams
  • Be flexible to work across time zones
  • Possess good planning and organisational skills, with attention to detail
