Gard is looking for a Head of Risk Management to play an important role in shaping Gard’s future risk management processes. The Risk Management team is part of the Group Risk department, which is also responsible for compliance, quality management, information security and risk and capital modelling. Gard is one of very few Norwegian insurers to have obtained approval from the Norwegian FSA to use an internal risk capital model for calculating the regulatory capital requirements.

The Risk Management team plays a central part of the organization, in identifying, assessing, monitoring, and reporting financial and non-financial risks.

Head of Risk Management reports to the Chief Risk Officer.

Your responsibilities will be;

• Lead the risk management team.
• Developing strategy and set goals for the team in line with Gard’s aspirations.
• Developing and maintaining the risk management framework and processes.
• Understanding and communicating the results from the Internal Model.
• Analyzing current risks and identify potential risks that may affect the company and evaluating the company’s handling of risks.
• Monitoring global trends and emerging risks and take action if needed.
• Preparing risk reports tailored to relevant internal and external audiences.
• Educating various stakeholders about the most significant risks to the business.
• Contributing to the development of business continuity plans to limit risks.

Who are you;

• You have at least 5 years’ experience, in risk management or other relevant experience.

• You have leadership experience.

• You have excellent quantitative and analytical skills, along with an ability to apply those skills across a variety of business processes.

• You are familiar with the latest technology and have an ability to work strategically.
• You have an attention to detail and at the same time the ability to see the bigger picture.
• You have an innovative mindset with strong professional integrity, willing to go the extra mile.
• You have an interest in continuous learning and personal development.
• You are self-driven, independent and with the ability to adapt.
• You have strong coordinating, interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to transfer insight to audiences outside of Group Risk.
• You have excellent English skills, both orally and verbally.

A degree in one of the following subjects might be considered as an advantage:

• Finance or Economics.
• Management or Business Studies.
• Social Sciences.
