To strengthen AKVA group’s growing business and the Engineering department, we are searching for a Mechanical Discipline Lead. The objective of the Sea Based Engineering department is to provide technical solutions and engineering deliverables to ongoing customer projects.   

Main Responsibilities 

The Mechanical Discipline Lead plays a significant role in the delivery of feeding barges, one of our core products. The position has the responsibility for mechanical project deliverables, including all aspects related to marine engineering, naval architecture and certification of feeding barges. The responsibilities include: 

  • Technical solutions within mechanical discipline in tenders, feasibility studies and delivery projects
  • Certification processes toward 3rd party collaborators, societies, and authorities 
  • Personnel responsibility within the mechanical discipline, including resource allocation and follow up within the discipline 
  • Quality checking and approval of technical drawings/solutions according to valid regulations
  • Perform risk assessments and estimate scope of work for the mechanical discipline 
  • Develop necessary technical documents and specifications for fabrication and vendors
  • Ensure that design and technical solutions are construction, user and service friendly

Background and Qualifications 

We are looking for a candidate with a strong technical knowledge, engineering discipline lead experience and good communication skills. Engineering degree within Mechanical Engineering, Marine Engineering and/or Naval Architecture is required. It is an advantage if you have;

  • 10 years of engineering experience, preferably from the maritime industry 
  • Experience from a discipline lead role or similar  
  • Experience with certification processes towards 3rd party collaborators, societies, and authorities
  • Experience with 2D and 3D CAD processes and tools
  • Strong language skills in English, and preferably in Norwegian 
  • Experience from aquaculture is considered a benefit, but not required

Personal characteristics  

  • Ability to make decisions, ensure quality and act with integrity within own field of expertise 
  • Proactive, with strong problem-solving skills and technical/academic interest
  • Creative and innovative when it comes to meeting customer requirements and expectations
  • Good communication skills and ability to collaborate at all levels of the organisation
