About the position:

Discovery Networks Norway is now looking to recruit a Director Partnership and Distribution Nordics, with a particular responsibility for Norway and Finland.

The role will be contributing to and executing Discovery´s subscription business strategy in the Nordics. The role has operational responsibility and will lead a team of direct reports to deliver commercial distribution business and account management related to sales and distribution of TV channels, D2C streaming services, and other content products via relevant distribution partners.

The role will have a special focus on developing the partnerships business in the Nordics beyond the current business model to accelerate distribution of D2C services. The role will be responsible for appointed clients and manage activities, internal and external stakeholders and processes relating to these accounts. Key clients are currently mostly in Norway and Finland, including Pan Nordic clients with operations in both countries.

The position will also contribute to the wider direction of the business by identifying business efficiency issues and the best solutions, including continuous development of team roles.

The Director Partnerships & Distribution will be part of the Nordic P&D leadership group, report directly to VP Partnerships & Distribution Nordics, and be located in Oslo.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Identifying and evaluating existing and new strategic partnership opportunities for the business and see common grounds with partners beyond the traditional TV distribution model to secure future revenues
  • Accountable for delivering on objectives, strategic priorities and set revenue targets for Distribution revenues 
  • Relationship and account management in Norway and Finland
  • Partnership success management, e.g. maximizing retail of D2C subscriptions
  • Analysis, preparation, participation in and/or leading negotiations maximizing revenues across all business models
  • Preparing contracts and other legal documents in cooperation with internal/external legal counsel and administration of contracts via applicable internal systems
  • Implementation of signed partnership agreements, to ensure both internal and partner compliance with contractual obligations throughout the term
  • Responsibility to secure delivery and represent the commercial P&D team in internal collaborations with Tech teams to secure delivery and implementations of partnership deals
  • Implementation (all related processes) of signed partnership agreements throughout the term, to ensure both internal and partner compliance with contractual obligations
  • Cooperate with local and central departments within technology and IT in relation to channel signal, content and metadata delivery, as well as development of systems to support distribution related needs
  • Budget, forecasting and cooperation with Finance in client related matters, various reports, projects and business plans

 

Requirements Experience & Competencies:

  • Relevant academic degree and credentials, preferably within Business Administration, Finance and/or Law
  • Experience of managing complex sales and/or business development
  • Management experience in leading staff personnel
  • Extensive experience from leading high stake, complex partnership/customer negotiations
  • In-depth understanding of and insights in the media distribution gained from management position within the cable, broadband, mobile industry or equivalent
  • Proven results from successfully driving strategic partnerships, preferably within the TV and digital media business
  • Successful track record from maneuvering in environments of internal and external contributors and stakeholders
  • Extensive network within the world of media distributors and networks is a plus
  • Fluency in English both oral and written is required
