Launch Area Manager Andøya Space

Andøya Space is seeking a Launch Area Manager for a new satellite launch facility we are developing on Andøya. With site preparation and construction work about to begin, the launch area manager will have a key role to ensure that installed systems and infrastructure meet requirements for safe launch operations, to review and witness site acceptance tests, to prepare of safe procedures for launch area operations, and support  the integration of launch vehicles onto the pad and conduct of tests in the run-up to initial launch. Take the launch capability through into scheduled operations.

The successful applicant will be familiar with the electro-mechanical, fluidic, and hydraulic systems used in large scale operations of this kind, in will preferably have some background experience in space operations. This is a role for a capable engineer with a broad knowledge base, with good co-ordination and communication skills, and with a rigorous approach to installation, test, acceptance and operation of critical infrastructure in a hazardous environment. This is an ambitious project in a rapidly evolving new space environment; we seek a candidate with initiative, independence, flexibility and willingness to take responsibility.

The position will be located on Andøya.

Working tasks / Responsibilities 

• Plan installation, integration and test of launch systems and infrastructure
• Review & approve site acceptance test; witness and accept SATs
• Establish safe operating procedures
• Prepare and manage launch area documentation
• Support integration of new clients and launch vehicles into the spaceport

Qualification / Education

• University degree in engineering
• Experience in electromechanical and fluidic systems engineering and operations
• Familiar with engineering test and acceptance
• Safety in hazardous environments
• Experience in space industry is beneficial
• Fluent in written and oral English
• Familiar with standard office IT and applications
• The candidate must be eligible to obtain a Norwegian security clearance
