The Strategic Planning and Development Section is part of the Organisation Development Directorate and has a key global role in the organisational and cultural development of NRC in line with overall strategic direction. The SPDS leads global strategy development and tracking of implementation, organisational development, change, improvement and capacity building. SPD also serves as analytical and advisory capacity to SMG. In addition, the section manages thematic areas like Project Cycle Management. The SPD team are all technical and/or specialist advisers within their fields and working within an `internal-consultancy' or matrix structure, the team act as change agents across NRC.
Duties and responsibilities
The purpose of this position is to support NRC's top management in the development and follow-up of the global strategy and to support and advice on performance management. The position plays a key interface in the planning, delivery and follow-up of the global strategy and ensuring the organisation remains accountable to the strategy it has set. The position is a 12 month temporary position. The Senior Adviser Strategy is responsible for:
- Contribute to the development of the global strategy for 2022
- Play a key role in the development of the organisations strategy framework
- Project manage specific projects, for example the work on developing the overall performance reporting for SMG
- General advisory tasks on issues and projects of strategic importance
- Develop analysis and decision making material for SMG and Extended SMG
- Lead and manage global forums, like global strategy seminar and CD forums
Specifically
- Lead the development of specific analysis in the global strategy
- Facilitate discussions in decision making forums during the global strategy process
- Develop communication related to the global strategy
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience within the humanitarian sector at senior level
- Professional knowledge of organisational and strategic development processes
- Experience of developing and/or implementing organisational change initiatives
- Documented results related to the position's responsibilities
- Experience from working in complex and volatile contexts
- Fluency in English, both written and verbal
