Country Lead

Skipperi is a fast growing, people-friendly digital boating service launched in 2017 and originating from Finland. We are sailors, motorboaters, wannabe boaters and fisherwomen, all passionate about making boating possible for everyone. On top of boating, we sure do know a thing or two about software development, marketplaces and digital marketing :) 

We believe that sharing boats makes sense for most boaters, and certainly for our one and only planet. We also believe that there are many more boaters and future boaties out there that just currently don’t have the access and the means to get out and enjoy the waters. Thirdly, we believe we need to take care of our waters, so that we can keep on boating and enjoying adventures out on the waters and in our archipelagos for years to come.  We want our users to experience the joy of boating through sustainable and more accessible ways, by providing them with a modern, digitalised and hassle-free boating service, whether they wish to spend a day or the whole season onboard. 

Well, how do we do this? We have two business lines: peer to peer boat rental, and since 2019 Skipperi City Boats - a subscription based boating service. Peer to peer boat rental has had great growth in Finland and Sweden, and we already have over 800 privately owned boats in the service. Our City Boat service, with over a 100 shared-use boats, has grown to cover 30 harbors in 8 cities in Finland & Sweden in just 2 years. Additionally, we are opening this service in New Zealand as well this autumn. 

We are now looking for a Country Lead to launch Skipperi in Norway. This includes launching and managing Skipperi City Boats in Oslo, and growing our peer to peer rental across the country. You will be based in Oslo and work closely with our HQ in Helsinki, and our other teams in Stockholm and Auckland. At Skipperi you get to work with what is new and exciting in boating. We have set a steady base and are ready to go! 

We are looking for you who can, will, and can’t wait to: 

• Be the spokesperson and pioneer for a new boating culture in Norway
• Build and manage relations to boaters, cities, the boating industry & partners
• Build a local Skipperi community together with our awesome marketing people
• Launch & manage the City Boat service in Oslo, and later in other key cities 
• Recruit a great local team to help you out (2-3 people in the first Season)
• Manage and grow our peer to peer business across the country
• Take part in related events (boating industry, startup, sharing/circular economy)

What we think would make you successful in this position:

• A self-directed attitude (we are a startup and really mean this)
• Solid experience in business, preferably in sales and marketing 
• Have good understanding & skills in digital business & platforms 
• Passion for creating delightful customer experiences 
• Target-oriented mindset 
• Courage to try out things and take responsibility 
• Fluency in Norwegian & English
• Sailing skills! Motorboating is also ok ;) 
• Networks in boating (-life or -industry, or both) are an asset but not a must
