Head of Retail

Description of the position

As Head of Retail you will have the lead and ownership of all Retail activities at Norrøna, including the development and execution of Norrøna’s global Retail strategy. The position has full P&L responsibility for the Retail channel – currently consisting of 26 Norrøna Flagship, Concept and Outlet stores located in five countries. 

You will drive growth and profitability by establishing new stores, leading and developing people in Retail, enhancing the customer experience, increasing conversion rates, improving processes, reducing costs and implementing new business ideas, technologies and services in Norrøna’s stores.

You will lead a passionate Retail team, and you will actively collaborate with partners across the organization to enhance processes and provide insights that will drive both online and offline sales in Norrøna’s own-controlled DTC channels. 

The position is a part of Norrøna’s extended management group and reports to CEO of Norrøna Sport.

Main areas of responsibility

• Lead the development and execution of Norrøna’s global Retail strategy. 
• Full profit and loss responsibility for Norrøna Retail.
• Lead and develop the Retail department.
• Search for new store locations and establish new profitable stores.
• Lead Norrøna partner stores projects and operations.
• Ensure organic growth in existing stores.
• Collaborate with the eCommerce team to ensure a seamless and profitable omni-channel strategy.
• Contract negotiations with landlords, vendors and external service providers. 
• Ensure compliance with corporate operating and visual guidelines in all stores.
• Identify new areas of Retail opportunity beyond current organizational thinking.
• Analyze KPI’s and metrics to locate trends and implement ideas to generate growth and maximize conversion rates.
  
  

Experience and knowledge

The Head of Retail should have an academic degree in economics or other relevant field of business and trade, and must have in-depth knowledge and experience of the following:

• Proven, hands-on, experience of building and managing Retail channel for a high growth entrepreneurial company in the high-end segment.
• Project management of store construction projects.
• Store design and visual merchandising concepts.
• Using software applications and technology to manage operations and improve retail performance.
• Leadership and management of store employees.
• HSE and relevant working environment laws and regulations.
• Commercial negotiations with landlords, vendors and external service providers.
