Join a global and market-leading logistics provider in a strategic and pivotal role as an Airfreight Director for our International airfreight business unit at Kuehne + Nagel Norway. The scope of the role is to lead the entire airfreight community and to elevate our airfreight operations to the next level. We are looking for a strategic leader with a strong commercial acumen who is comfortable at adapting to a changing environment.

YOUR ROLE

At Kuehne + Nagel Norway, we operate an airfreight department that consists of approximately 41 dedicated people working in the airfreight operations in our locations in Oslo, Stavanger, Bergen and Ålesund. Our National airfreight management team consists of 6 highly competent and dedicated members who will be reporting directly to the Airfreight Director. As Airfreight Director, you will be responsible for managing and overseeing our entire airfreight department, while leading our highly knowledgeable team of 47 employees. The role entails full strategic responsibility for our airfreight operations in Norway, and you will act as a key resource towards our customers and business partners. You will be reporting directly to the National Managing Director and become a member of our national board at Kuehne + Nagel Norway. You will also be part of the regional airfreight management team. To succeed in this role, you possess proven leadership abilities and a customer-centric mindset to ensure further commercial success in our airfreight department. You will drive and ensure the business development objectives in airfreight are met, contributing to our national and global continuous growth.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

• National responsibility for airfreight activities, results and budgets and cooperation with sales and other business units and solutions
• Generate profitable growth and achieve given KPI's assigned by national and global management
• Lead and support Airfreight departments across Norway with professional development and motivation of employees
• Develop and implement strategies for airfreight activities and drive continuous improvement initiatives across the department
• Strategically plan, organise and delegate activities to ensure customer's expectations and demands are met
• Ensure that all key business tasks are carried out across all leadership levels within our airfreight department
• Continuously expand the company's market position and nurture your customer network
• Oversee the identification and implementation of new and innovative technologies and growth opportunities
• Ensure effective and sound communication with colleagues and subordinates

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES

• Extensive experience from a similar role within the logistics or airline industry with a proven track record
• Proven leadership and people management skills
• Sound knowledge of airfreight operations and the freight forwarding industry
• Leadership ability to develop people and delegate responsibilities
• Holistic approach and commercially minded
• Excellent communications skills in order to actively listen and communicate with employees on all levels
• Thrive with negotiations and driven by achieving remarkable results
• Solid understanding of digital systems and avid interest in technology
• Trustworthy and the ability to foster collaboration cross-functionally
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in one of the Scandinavian languages and English
