To our Norwegian head-office in Oslo we seek a dedicated manager to lead the transformation we are in. As Operations Manager you shall provide leadership for the overall customer delivery process. Gilbarco supplies service and installation to leading players in the fuel & retail market and requires that the organization is structured from an operational perspective. If you are a dedicated people management skilled leader, with ambition to create healthy and well-run businesses, we would like to hear from you. Gilbarco is cost oriented and uses lean-tools to grow a commercially healthy company. Our new manager understands how to build performance culture. 

Purpose of Position

From an operational perspective to deliver the requirements of the strategic plan, the budget and our Policy Deployment goals in terms of customer satisfaction, overall customer delivery for products, services and installation and operational financial performance.Reporting to the Operations Director Sweden & Norway, the role will bring stability, growth and predictably strong performance to the business, covering all product lines for Gilbarco Veeder-Root including Service, Pumps, Gauges and our RS solutions.

Gilbarco Veeder-Root (GVR) requires that all associates comply with the actual GVR HSE Policy, as well as the Fortive Standard of Conduct.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure all direct reports are adequately trained in relevant HSE issues for their positions in order to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Conduct field audits for own team and subcontractors to ensure HSE compliance and focus on quality and efficiency & cost.
  • Coach and lead your managers to become more commercially astute, fully realizing all profit opportunities.
  • Drive performance management process for all associates in your team ensuring frequent, timely, and collaborative reviews throughout the year.
  • Establish a cost-effective service and installation organization, which supports the business activities at the levels defined in the Strategic Plan, the Budget and Policy 
  • Deployment and allows for sales upside where possible to deliver against country P&L targets for Service.
  • Position and deliver the full potential of Gilbarco, with the team fully exploiting every revenue and profit opportunity. 
  • Deploy the regional strategic priorities into the branch to ensure positioning of Gilbarco Veeder-Root as the undisputed market leader in the region. 
  • Deliver on the strategic priorities by managing through systems and FBS tools
  • Deliver Service and Installation revenue in the branch in line with financial budgets and forecast
  • Drive continuous improvement in delivery, quality and cost to a position of ‘best in lean class’ within Fortive, and consolidate Gilbarco’s leadership position within the Scandinavian Retail Petroleum Market. 
  • Maintain overall SLA at contracted KPI levels on a continuous basis for the total service business.
  • Drive engineer productivity levels to budgeted plan in completed jobs per engineer per day.
  • Measure customer satisfaction and operational deliverables to drive a continuous improvement programme for business performance, responsiveness and process.
  • Grow sustainable market share across all business sectors by delivering exceptional industry response times and operational performance. 
  • Ensure that the overall response time provided by the operational function supports a customer service, which is extremely efficient, effective and professional. The purpose is to provide the best customer service in the industry with a focus on improving operational performance to retain and attract customers.
  • Continually improve the business using the Fortive continuous improvement process and KPI balanced scorecard measurements to monitor progress and prioritise actions.
  • Responsible for all field service activity, helpdesks, invoicing and administration related to the delivery of the service P&L

Personal qualities, qualifications & experience

1. Education / achievements: 

  • Required:Bachelor of Business Economics and/or Engineering or similar
  • Preferred:Master of Business Economics and/or Engineering or similar

2. Experience and knowledge

  • Required:Proven track record of consistent success within a dynamic, growth oriented organization and background in operations with significant customer facing experience
  • Preferred:Knowledgeable in developing new business through pitch and tender processes.

Specific skills reequired

  • Fluent in Norwegian and excellent skills in English 
  • 5+ years experience as manager with  P&L responsibility
  • PC literate, ability to use company software
  • Awareness of appropriate Health and Safety and statutory regulations
  • Well-developed technical and project management skills
  • Proven motivational and people management skills

As Operations Manager you use rigorous logic and Problem Solving Process(PSP) tools, to analyze and solve high-priority problems in order to ensure countermeasures are process based.
