NCA has an exciting opportunity for an experienced and dynamic leader who will be responsible for NCA's program in Syria and Lebanon.

The Country Director for Syria and Lebanon is a senior management position and leads NCA's programmes and offices in the region. The Directorwill be instrumental in the continuous shaping ofthe responsesand the further development of the WASH, GBV/PSS and Peace Buildingprograms as well as strengthening the relationships withcooperating partners and other stakeholders. The Country Director will report to the Head of Division for theMiddle East and Asia in NCA head office in Oslo.

This is a 2-year position which is based inAmman withfrequent travels in the region. The status of the duty station is under evaluation.

Arbeidsoppgaver

  • Responsible for the NCA's strategies, programs and partner portfolio in Syriaand Lebanon.
  • Lead and manage the NCA offices and supervise a team of national and expatriate staff. 
  • Work to further develop and scale-up programmes, add value in the partnerships with implementing partner organizations and ensure high quality and accountability across the programs.
  • Represent NCA and maintain a strong network with national authorities, international and national partner organizations, relevant embassies and dignitaries, donors and relevant faith-based alliances. 
  • Secure income and strengthen anddiversify thefunding-base for the programmes and ensure the NCA programmes areoperated in compliance with NCA standards & commitments aswell as donor requirements.
  • Manage safety and security in cooperation with NCA's securitypersonnel in the region.
  • Be the NCA spokesperson on Syria and Lebanon and facilitate national and international media communication.

Kvalifikasjoner

  • Solid leadership experience with proven programme and people management skills and overseeingfinancial management, administration and HR.
  • Strong technical competence in humanitarian programing in highly complex and challengingenvironments and ideally experience with remote management.  
  • Experience from  working with partners  in the field of WASH, GBV and peace-building is desirable.
  • Experience with high-level representation and working closely with donors, UN agencies, partners and otherfaith-based organizations (previous experience working with the ACT Alliance isbeneficial).
  • Working experience from the region and a contextual knowledge of the unique local challenges isdesirable.
  • Experience with security management and working with high-risk environments along side security advisors.
  • Relevant higher university degree.
  • Strong analytical, proposal writing and reporting skills.
  • Excellent English communication skills, both verbal and written. Knowledgeof Arabic is beneficial.
