Process Engineer
Are you ready to take on a dynamic and influential role at the core of offshore production? Do you have operational FPSO experience?
Altera is looking for a talented and experienced Process Engineer to join our onshore team in Trondheim (Norway) or Aberdeen (UK) as we prepare for the deployment of the Petrojarl Knarr to the Rosebank oil and gas field.
Our modern FPSO, the Petrojarl Knarr, will be deployed to the Rosebank oil and gas field to produce and store hydrocarbons. The Rosebank development has been optimised to reduce carbon emissions and the FPSO will be prepared for future electrification. The vessel is currently undergoing life extension work, modifications for field specifics and enhanced energy efficiency.
In this position, you will play a key role for delivering technical support to our offshore assets, coordinating a multidisciplinary team, and ensuring safe, efficient, and reliable production operations.
From hands-on process troubleshooting and performance evaluation to strategic collaboration with offshore teams and technical authorities, you will play a crucial part in driving asset performance.
If you are passionate about improving uptime, reducing emissions, and maintaining the highest safety and quality standards, we like to hear from you!
Ready to play your biggest game with us? Apply now!

- Troubleshoot process challenges with a proactive mindset; you’ll dig deep into root causes, resolve complex issues fast, and prevent future downtime
- Run simulations and perform process calculations to optimise plant performance, reduce bottlenecks, and boost overall production efficiency
- Monitor asset health using process surveillance tools to spot early warning signs and drive continuous improvements in stability and reliability
- Get involved in audits and risk assessments, including HAZIDs, HAZOPs, and incident investigations, helping us stay ahead of risk
- Ensure documentation and procedures are up to date, effective, and aligned with the Altera Management System and all regulatory requirements
- Contribute to modification projects and technical studies, bringing your insight to the table to ensure operational integrity and innovation go hand in hand.
Some of the things we are looking for:
- Technical education on master or bachelor level
- English, fluent written and oral skills
- Detailed technical and operational knowledge within the relevant discipline, including setting up and running process simulations with Aspen HYSYS and use of PI Vision
- Proactive and forward leaning utilizing the Altera common digital toolbox for our Operations
- Flexibility on travel, including offshore travel
- Minimum 5 years’ relevant experience within the relevant discipline
- Detailed understanding and knowledge of applicable Regulations, International standards and approved code of practice in the jurisdictions where we operate
- Knowledge of Flag State and Classification Society requirements
