We are looking for a Senior Underwriter / Underwriter to join our team in Arendal/Oslo

In this role, you will handle P&I and Hull underwriting for our Mediterranean markets and clients. You will market and sell our full product range, evaluate new risks and negotiate renewals. You will travel across the region to connect with our clients, prospects and work together with a global team.

Key responsibilities:

• Enter and renew contracts of insurance on behalf of Gard.
• Identify, review and assess risks faced by our clients to offer appropriate risk management solutions.
• Develop and maintain relationships with clients and brokers and be an integral part of Gard’s business development.
• Be a Gard ambassador ensuring our partners get access to relevant underwriting, claims, loss prevention and risk management information and service.
• Monitor and analyze the performance of the portfolio.
• Share knowledge, information and experience across Gard’s global organisation.

About you:

• You have a minimum of 5-10 years’ relevant experience from the shipping and/or marine insurance industry.
• Experience from P&I and Hull underwriting would be an advantage.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with colleagues and clients.
• Solution and result-oriented mindset.
• Highly motivated to learn as well as share knowledge.
• A structured, service-minded and curious approach to work.
• Enjoy working as a part of a team and across departments.
• IT literacy and excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• A good command of written and spoken English is required. French might be considered as an advantage.
