We are on the lookout for a Maritime Superintendent to join our Operations & Logistics team!
At Northern Lights JV we are at the forefront of a new industry, and Operations & Logistics is at the heart of this activity, responsible for all the operational activities from capture site loading to injection at our offshore reservoir. This includes all vessel and terminal operations including potential new customer logistics modelling.
Where you fit in
As Maritime Superintendent, you support the safe, efficient, and cost-effective operation of our pioneering LCO₂ vessels. You develop cargo handling procedures in close collaboration with customer terminals and assist the Maritime Manager across all marine-related activities.

Your role
These are some of the areas where we could really use your expertise:
Develop in co-ordination with operators, owners, Shipyards, and terminals first of a kind LCO2 cargo handling procedures.
Ensure vessels and voyages are successfully vetted in a timely manner, following up with operators for prompt remedial actions if necessary.
Provide an effective working link on a day-to-day basis between Northern Lights, Customer terminals and operators.
Undertake Vessel, terminal and management company visits as required.
Provide Marine expertise in the event of an emergency.
Support ongoing shipbuilding activities.
Participate in future LCO2 carrier design including future fuels and efficiency technologies.
What do we need from you?
The Northern Lights team operates with a "one team" and a strong new business mentality with support from shareholders both directly and through various Service Agreements. You will need to be willing and able to challenge conventional thinking and approaches to arrive at innovative, fit for purpose and effective business outcomes.
Qualifications:
You hold a Master Mariner licence
Actual sailing time (preferably LNG or LPG carriers)
Experience with ship shore interface studies
We expect you to be familiar with international legislation.
Personal skills:
Multicultural awareness and environmental awareness, coupled with organizational and anticipation skills.
Decision-making skills are required, along with a strong awareness of environmental protection.
We’re looking for individuals who stay calm, focused, and professional under pressure - and who communicate exceptionally well in English, both verbally and in writing.
It should be expected to travel both domestically and internationally (occasionally).

Northern Lights JV is responsible for developing and operating CO2 transport and storage facilities, open to third parties, as part of Longship, the Norwegian Government’s full-scale carbon capture and storage project which will be the first ever cross-border, open-source CO2 transport and storage infrastructure network, shipping CO2 to an onshore receiving terminal at Øygarden on the Norwegian west coast, before being transported by pipeline for permanent storage in a reservoir 2,600 metres under the seabed.
Northern Lights JV DA is a registered, incorporated General Partnership with Shared Liability (DA) owned equally by Equinor, Shell and TotalEnergies.
