Chief Engineer

We have a great opportunity to join HX as Chief Engineer. As part of the ships management team you will report directly into the Master of the vessel.

Leading the team onboard, you will be accountable for the engine department operation. You will be responsible for always ensuring that the activities are carried out in an efficient, safe and secure manner making sure that the work is completed to a high standard.

Within this role you will act as a role model, be a leader for the future, an inclusive team player who is able to coach and support your team.

Duties and responsibilities:

• 
  Overall responsibility for and management of the engine and electrical department's work
  
• 
  Promoting excellence in safety culture and awareness
  
• 
  Satisfactory operation and maintenance of machinery and all technical and electrical equipment on board the ship
  
• 
  Collaboration with the ships management team, ensuring that the guest and crew experience is at the heart of the operation
  
• 
  Planning yard stays and preparing the yard list in cooperation with TSI
  
• 
  Responsible for ordering bunker fuel and lubrication oils
  
• 
  Overall responsibility for ordering stores/supplies and spare parts
  
• 
  Responsible for the maintenance system
  
• 
  Maintain certification and compliance within technical operations areas of responsibility
  
• Responsible for daily operations including reporting of all irregularities, nonconformities, and accidents, and taking action to prevent such incidents from recurring

Qualifications / Experience

• Valid CoC Chief Engineer, issued by a recognised administration
• Documented minimum 3 years practical experience as a Staff Chief / 1st Engineer from an expedition / cruise ship
• At least 3 years management experience of leading a team
• 
  In compliance to the flag State competence requirements and documentation
  
• 
  Fluent written/oral English language
