Innovative R&D role in battery and motor control design
Jefferson Wells is seeking a skilled Senior Power Electronics Developer for a 6-month assignment with good possibilities for extension. The position is based in Kongsberg and involves development work within motor control and battery management systems. Candidates should have a couple of years of relevant experience in power electronics design and system integration.
You will be employed by Jefferson Wells and work on assignment at our client’s site.
Tasks and Responsibilities
As part of the Controls & Automation product line, you will contribute to the development of technology platforms for electrification of subsea control systems and support renewable energy sources such as offshore wind, hydrogen, and wave energy. Responsibilities include:

Collaborate with system architects and developers to define hardware requirements.

Design and develop motor drive and battery management circuits, PCBAs and modules.

Select components, design schematics, perform PCB layout, and prototype builds.

Conduct functional verification of designs, assemblies, and actuators.

Work closely with system, mechanical, layout, manufacturing, reliability, and software teams.

Develop test procedures and write reports covering various test phases including functional, environmental, and manufacturing validation.
Background and Qualifications
We are looking for candidates with broad competence in electronics development, particularly in motor control and battery systems:

BSc, MSc, or PhD in electronics, automation, cybernetics, or similar fields.

A couple of years of industrial experience in power electronics development and industrialization.

Strong skills in analog design with components like opamps, IGBTs, MOSFETs, and transformers.

Experience in ECAD tools such as Altium Designer for schematic and PCB layout.

Practical lab skills and experience with instruments like oscilloscopes and signal generators.

Knowledge of control algorithms and basic embedded programming for circuit validation.

Experience with design for manufacturability and EMC compliance.

Open-minded, structured, and capable of working in multicultural environments.

Proficiency in professional English is required.
