Our department in Sandnessjøen is now looking for a Welding Instructor to join the team.
What will you be doing?
About Our Yard:
We specialize in a variety of projects, including:
Offshore Oil & Gas
Offshore Subsea
Heavy and general structural steel fabrication
Stainless steel piping
Products:
Structural and Piping
Materials Used:
Structural steel (up to S690)
Stainless steel (Superduplex, 6Mo, 316, Inconel, etc.)
Aluminium
Titanium (in smaller quantities)
Main Welding Processes:
136, 141, 131, 121, 111, 141H, 142, 138 and their variations
Types of Work Expected:
Training and education
Performing WPQR/production tests/mock-ups fit-up and welding (strict requirements)
Conducting site tests on newly hired/subcontracted personnel (fitters and welders)
Evaluating new equipment, tools, welding consumables, and processes
Serving as a knowledge center for operating most, if not all, fitting and welding equipment at the yard
Acting as the main point of contact for demonstrating specific fitting or welding operations
In coordination with the welding engineer, having full authority and responsibility for the welding school (planning activities, improvements, material requirements, etc.)
We think you should have:
Key Personal Qualities:
Strong and realistic confidence in welding skills, with an understanding of personal limits
Honesty, integrity, reliability and punctuality
Enjoys teaching and transferring knowledge to others
Ability to self-organize and lead groups of young trainees
Eagerness to explore new technologies, methodologies and equipment
Technical Skills & Experience:
Ability to perform exemplary welding in the main processes used
Excellent knowledge of welding 136 (FCAW-G) / 141 (TIG)
Experience with the main products and materials used at the yard
Experience in WPQR/production test pieces (or production test) welding
Ability to fully understand WPS requirements
Ability to perform exemplary cutting with an oxy torch
Understanding of general fit-up
Experience in teaching production personnel (fitters and welders)
Experience with mechanization/automation in cutting and welding
Experience with heat treatment processes and equipment
Fluent and clear in English, both spoken and written. Norwegian/European language skills are also beneficial.
